USARA Race Certifications

HSE's reputation for safety and sound teaching principles is a major reason that we're one of the Southeast's sole providers of USARA race certifications.

USARA Paddling Re-certification. $70 per person (1 1/2 -2 hours)
This program is only for individuals who have already been USARA certified for paddling. Completion results in a renewal of the USARA paddling certification. Racer must effectively demonstrate all requirments of HSE advanced paddling instruction as well as requirements for all USARA sanctioned paddling techniques for single and two man canoe and kayaking.

USARA Ropes, Rappelling, Ascending, Re-certification. $70 per person (1 1/2-2 hours)
This program is only for individuals who have already been USARA certified for ropes. Completion results in a renewal of the USARA ropes certification. Racer must safely and effectively demonstrate all requirements of HSE advanced rope and rock instruction as well as requirements for all USARA sanctioned Adventure Racing rappelling and ascending techniques.

Advanced Rope and Rock Instruction: $200 per person (4 hours)
Instruction covers all rappelling and ascending Techniques required by all USARA Sanctioned races. Rappelling gear familiarization utilizing ATC's, figure eights, Petzel stops, rappelling rack, and Prussic knots. Ascending gear and technique familiarization. Safety instruction includes gear check, mid-air transfers, self-rescues, and buddy rescues. Course results in a USARA ropes certification, valid for all races.

Advanced AR Paddling Techniques: $180 per person (3 hours)
Covers everthing in basic paddling course as well as flat water and fast water rescue. Rapid navigation and negotiation. Canoe and kayak AR team paddling technique. Power paddle techniques, race strategy. Course results in a USARA paddling certification, valid for all races.

Hairy Scary Evolutions has a long standing non-negotiable/non-refundable policy of all fee's paid for Training Evolutions with the exception of death or catastrophic injury to the client. The client may re-schedule their Training Evolution to a more accommodating date or give/sell the Training Evolution to whomever they wish.
