Claire Pate: Instructor
"I believe that life should be fueled by passion. Adventure sports reconnect me to
the fundamental building blocks of life -earth, air and water- with an
intensity that fires my passion. Sharing this intensity is a primary motivator
in my life."
Claire began her own evolution barely two years ago. Unable to run a mile without
stopping, she decided to transform herself. Finding a mentor, she learned the
elementary aspects of adventure racing. Once she completed her first race, she was
completely hooked. Races lasting 9 hours became training grounds for much
longer events. She seeks out opportunities to push herself to extreme levels of
endurance. As a single mother of two, Claire understands the complexities of
fitting time to train into a schedule. Hearing her children excitedly tell tales of
mommy's adventurous accomplishments motivates her greatly. Professionally,
Claire is the Statewide Health and Wellness Coordinator for the Georgia Department of
Corrections, a group exercise instructor, a personal chef and a metalsmith.
Claire strongly believes in volunteerism and is very active at her children's
elementary school where she is the art team leader emphasizing the use of the arts
in education.
